New Jr. Grads Fall 2026 Tryout Guide Now Available

The Cumberland Minor Hockey Association (CMHA) has published a new Jr. Grads Competitive Tryout Guide for Fall 2026, providing players and families with a comprehensive overview of the upcoming competitive tryout process. 

 

The guide is designed to help participants understand what to expect during tryouts and outlines the evaluation procedures for U9A, U18 AA/A, and Rep B teams across all age divisions. It explains how players are assessed, the role of coaches and independent evaluators, communication timelines, player release communication, and key expectations for players and parents. 

 

The new guide reflects the Jr. Grads’ commitment to delivering a tryout process that is fair, transparent, respectful, and consistent for all participants. 

“We want every player and family to have a clear understanding of the tryout process before stepping onto the ice,” said Douglas McNaught, Director Competitive, Jr. Grads. “This guide provides valuable information about evaluations, expectations, and how roster decisions are made.” 

 

Key highlights include: 

  • Evaluation processes by division, including Goalie, U9A, U18 AA and Rep B programs 
  • Information on independent evaluators and standardized assessment criteria 
  • Player release communication 
  • Expectations for conduct during the tryout period 
  • Frequently asked questions for players and families 

 

Fall tryouts for U9, U18 AA/A and Rep B teams will begin in late August 2026. 

Registration Deadline for U9A and Rep B U10 to U16: August 15 

 

Families are encouraged to review the guide and complete their registration as soon as possible to ensure eligibility for the upcoming tryout process.
