PLAYER DEVELOPMENT Assistants (2 Positions)
Player Development Mentors are appointed members of the Development Team who support the Technical Director in delivering on-ice development programming, particularly within the Cumberland Dukes stream and younger age groups as identified by CMHA priorities.
Player Development Assistants shall:
- Deliver player skill development sessions as assigned by the Technical Director;
- Support the implementation of the CMHA development curriculum through station work, age-group sessions, and small-group instruction;
- Assist with the delivery of preseason conditioning, evaluations, and development ice where required;
- Support coaches by reinforcing technical teaching points and development language established by CMHA;
- Assist in identifying player development needs, recurring technical deficiencies, and age-group priorities;
- Promote high-quality instruction, positive player experience, and age-appropriate challenge during all development sessions;
- Provide feedback to the Technical Director on session effectiveness, player engagement, and emerging development needs;
- Assist with development initiatives that strengthen the Dukes-to-Grads pathway;
- Attend Development Council meetings where requested; and
- Perform such other duties as the Technical Director or VP Development may direct.
Role Clarification
Player Development Assistants are delivery and support roles, not governance or discipline roles. They support program execution and coaching consistency but do not replace team coaches, divisional directors, or Executive members.
GOALIE DEVELOPMENT MENTOR
The Goalie Development Mentor is responsible for supporting the planning and delivery of goaltender development within CMHA under the direction of the Technical Director.
The Goalie Development Mentor shall:

Deliver goalie-specific development sessions as assigned by the Technical Director;

Support the integration of goalie development within broader CMHA development programming where appropriate;

Assist coaches and teams in understanding age-appropriate goaltending fundamentals and practice integration;

Identify goalie development priorities by age group and provide recommendations to the Technical Director and VP Development;

Support preseason, in-season, and supplemental goalie development opportunities;

Promote proper technical progression, workload awareness, and a positive learning environment for goaltenders;

Provide session feedback and development observations to the Technical Director;

Attend Development Council meetings where requested; and
-
Perform such other duties as the Technical Director or VP Development may direct.
Role Clarification
The Goalie Development Mentor focuses on goaltender development, instruction and support evaluation and tryouts. The role shall not be responsible for roster decisions, team selection, or discipline matters.
