Parents & Members

Every year we try to survey our parents and members to find out about their experience with our Association for that season. We pose questions to rate parent/member satisfaction level regarding coach and management staff, the communication between their convenors, executives and with the Association in general.

DON'T WAIT!  We do want to hear from you if there a serious incident has occured and that needs our immediate attention.
For non urgent matters, try to resolve issues at the team level.  If issues go unresolved, please escalate to your convenor.  If the issue is still unresolved, it will be esclated to an executive council memeber and so on.  Below is a chart to explain the escalation process that we follow.

Mandatory Parent Training

Effective since the 2015/2016 season, Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO) mandated that at least one parent or guardian per household for participants at the U7 and U9 levels, and those parents or guardians of new registrants up to U18 level, must take the on-line "Respect in Sport for Hockey Canada Parents" (RIS-Parent) Program.

A parent/guardian from each household MUST TAKE RIS-Parent BEFORE their player begins their FIRST REGULAR SEASON session (for U7 participants) or game (for U9 and above).  Once taken, its good for life.

The implementation of this program will foster and develop a culture of mutual respect in HEO and serve as an effective risk management tool, as well as contributing to the overall safety and enjoyment of the game by all participants. A platform of proactive education for each of the stakeholders that have a direct impact on the youth in our game. The parents/guardians of our players represent a key step towards achieving the HEO vision.

The completion of the "Respect in Sport for Hockey Canada Parents" Program for at least one parent/guardian of each household of a registered player in U7, U9 or new to the Branch shall be a condition of the player’s eligibility for participation.

NOTE: The Respect in Sport for Hockey Canada Parents program differs from the Respect in Sport for Hockey Canada Activity Leaders program. Therefore, parents/guardians that have already taken the Activity Leader program must still take the Parents program.

Goalie Equipment Rental

The Cumberland Minor Hockey Association (CMHA) will provide an opportunity for parents who require a goalie equipment rental for the season to meet with an Equipment Manager and obtain the equipment in advance of the season.

To book your appointment, please send an email to: equipment@cumberlandminorhockey.ca

Equipment Rental Costs and Conditions

The costs for equipment rental are as follows:

  • Fall & Winter Season (September to early April) $150
  • Spring & Summer $40 per month
  • Summer Goalie Camps $30 per weekly session

It is important to note that each rental must also include a $300 deposit that is refunded with the return of the equipment, provided the equipment is not damaged and all of the equipment is returned. Please make cheques payable to "CMHA".

Note to U9 parents: For U9 Dukes 'B' & 'C' teams, goalie equipment is assigned to each team for the season.  The equipment is shared as the teams will rotate goalies. There is no need to rent individual equipment unless your child intends to have individual goalie training outside of the CMHA.

If you have any questions, please contact an Equipment Manager at equipment@cumberlandminorhockey.ca.
