Notice of Motion, District Chair Election & Special General Meeting (09/14/2025) 

The Cumberland Minor Hockey Association will hold a Special General Meeting (SGM) on Sunday, September 14 at 7:00 PM (via Zoom).
The purpose of this SGM is to: 

1. Vote on a proposed amendment to CMHA By-Laws, Sections 8.12 and 8.13 regarding how vacancies on the Executive Council, specifically the District Chair position, are filled. 
2. Elect a new District Chair. 

Summary of Proposed By-Law Change:
The amendment establishes a clear process for filling the District Chair position if it becomes vacant. If the vacancy occurs before September 30 of the current season and more than one qualified candidate is interested, CMHA members will vote for a new District Chair at a Special General Meeting (SGM). If the vacancy occurs after September 30, the Vice-Chair will assume the Chair’s duties, or the Executive Council will appoint a new Chair to serve until the next AGM or SGM. This change reflects the importance of the District Chair role and ensures membership involvement in the selection process.

• Registration Deadline: CMHA members must register to attend the Zoom SGM by Saturday, September 13 at 11:59 PM.

• Voting: Voting will take place during the SGM via Zoom.
